Nine Habits That Are Bad for Your Body

Nine Habits That Are Bad for Your Body

Some habits can develop without you even realizing it. Plus, you may not know that they are very bad for your body. If you want to avoid habits that harm your body, read about these nine body-damaging habits that you can overcome.

1. Over-Exercising – Some exercise is good for you, but too much is damaging. This is something that most professional athletes totally understand because often their bodies are harmed too. You may only see the event that shows them at their best. The best thing is to exercise moderately and stop if you hurt.

2. Staying Up Late – It’s not going to harm you if you stay up late sometimes, but doing it regularly and still getting up on time can truly harm your body. You can end up having more cardiovascular disease and digestive issues if you stay up too late all the time.

3. Sitting Too Much – One of the worst things you can do for your life is to sit all the time. That cannot be helped if your job requires sitting. However, it’s important to understand that sitting will harm your circulation, cardiovascular health, and contributes to obesity. The good news is you only need to exercise about 20 to 30 minutes a day for every four hours you sit to mitigate the damage.

4. Skipping Meals – It’s so tempting to skip meals when you’re busy, but this can be worse for you than you think. You may develop issues with your blood sugar, you might not get enough vitamins and minerals, and you may not be your best at work or at play without enough nutrition.

5. Emotional Eating – If you find that you eat due to being sad, happy, or feeling any other emotion, it’s good to stop this habit because it can lead to obesity – or even worse, eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia.

6. Not Hydrating – If you don’t drink at a minimum of eight glasses of fresh filtered water each day, you are probably walking around dehydrated. When you pee, your pee should be almost clear or a very pale clear shade of yellow. It should not smell bad either. If you do have dark pee and it smells, drink more water. Water helps you process vitamins, minerals, and rid your body of toxins via your kidneys.

7. Poor Posture – If you don’t know how to sit, stand, or walk properly and you habitually do it incorrectly, eventually it will cause problems. Many people have severe hip problems simply from poor posture that limits mobility when they get older.

8. Binge Drinking – Drinking a drink or two a day is not bad for you. However, if you tend to overdo it when you drink, you may want to consider not drinking. If you binge drink, you may make poor decisions while you’re drunk, or you may simply end up sick with alcohol poisoning.

9. Smoking – Outside of sitting for more than four hours a day, smoking is the next thing on your list that is super-bad for your body. Smoking boosts your blood pressure, puts chemicals into your system and can cause cancer, stroke, and heart attack.

Ridding your life of habits that harm your body is a good choice. Don’t try to tackle every one of the bad habits at once, though. Instead, attack one bad habit at a time. Work on replacing that bad habit with a healthy habit over 30 to 90 days to ensure you’ve beat it before moving on to the next.

Activities For Stress Relief=Walking Tops The List

Activities For Stress Relief=Walking Tops The List

They say that exercise is one of the best activities for stress relief that you can do. And of all the exercises you can do, walking tops the list.

Taking a nice walk after dinner with your spouse, or a friend, or even your kids, is a great way to relax and have some fun, too.

Make sure you have some good walking shoes with good support and wear some non-restricting clothing like sweat pants and a t-shirt. Throw a light jacket over everything if the weather is a little cool. You can always take it off if you get too warm.

Start slowly, if you are not accustomed to walking or exercising, just make the first walk around the block in your neighborhood. Do this for a week or two until your body gets used to it then branch out and go two or three blocks.

Keep doing this every day or mix things up a bit and go to a local park or forest preserve and walk the trails.

Maybe you live in an area that has a bike path or walking trail that the city or county keeps up for those who want to use it. Sometimes they can go for miles and let you see some of the area where you live.

Just being out in nature has a calming effect on the body so walking through a nature preserve is one of the best activities for stress relief you can do for yourself.

Relieving the tension in your life is as important as eating and drinking. If you let it all build up it can have some detrimental effects on your body and overall health.

Headaches, heartburn, depression, anger, and increased anxiety are all symptoms of increased tension. If all of these go unchecked for an extended period of time it can lead to more serious things like high blood pressure.

High blood pressure can lead to any number of even more serious conditions like stroke and heart attack. It can have a domino effect where one thing leads to another and another.

Any form of exercise will help reduce the amount of tension you feel especially after the first few times you do it and the soreness or stiffness all goes away. After a work out you will feel energized and able to take on the world again with confidence.

I chose to tell you about walking because research has shown walking to be the best and it is easy to do. All you have to do is get up and start doing it. You do not have to join a gym to do your walking but you can if you want to.

You can basically walk anywhere. If you live in a place that has winter and it is too cold to walk outside for some of the year, a lot of people choose to walk at a local mall when the weather is bad.

Do yourself a favor, take care of yourself, get up and do one of the best activities for stress relief there is, take a walk.
